My first attempt at Grunge

This is the card I made for my DT post at Lulupu - Dry Embossing with a tutorial on how to create the dry embossed background using a Crafters Workshop gears stencil.

I've combined Prima Cartographer, Printery and Kaisercraft Timeless for this card. The base and two Manila tags were gessoed, embossed and inked with a dozen brown, black and yellow distress & archival inks. The butterflies are from Kaisercraft Timeless. Never thought grunge was so much fun :)

Entering this into

Color Conceptions Challenge - Dry / Wet embossing

Beyond Grey Challenges : Bingo

Dots on the base Prima paper, mostly covered by the gesso and inks

Butterfly - Two of them used
Mists - to make splatters and also colour the cheese cloth
Sentiment - cut out from a Prima paper

Lulupu Challenge #31 & Offtherails Designer Hot Spot

It's my turn over at Lulupu for challenge #31 - Dry Embossing. It's also my first attempt at grunge and I'm quite happy with the way my card looks. I'm so used to pinks and pretties, never thought I'd enjoy the other end of the spectrum but I may just have found a new love :)

I hope you take a few minutes to head over to the blog to see the full card and also read through my tutorial on how to dry emboss using stencils.

On another note, a while ago I won a designer hot spot at offtherailscrapbooking.  Along with my card there is also a short interview of sorts.

Ill be back again soon with the rest of the projects that are awaiting final touches.

More exciting news - Happy Mothers Day

Hello friends. Very excited to share another piece of happy news - I'm joining the design team at Lulupu.... Yaay!

When I started blogging end of last year, Lulupu was the first bloghop and challenge I entered (and won).... so this special for me. Its Mother's Day tomorrow and there definitely couldn't be a better project to kick start my term as a Lulu Pooh :)

This fortnight, the theme is Feminine Cards - soft colors, border punches and flowers. Here is what I made..........

...... pretty pink Prima papers, Martha Stewart punches, torn paper, head over to their blog to see  the inspiration from the rest of the design team. There is still time to play along.

Supplies: Prima papers and wood icon, Kaisercraft blooms, Martha Stewart punches, distress inks, water brush and Twinkling H2Os

My card is based on this sketch by offtherailsscrapbooking. Ive rotated the sketch and clustered the flowers in the corner instead of the centre.
Also, playing alongwith Crafters Corner - Something Special

Happy News.....

Very happy to share with you all that from this month on, I'm joining the design team at Scrapping4fun challenges. This is a fun challenge blog run by Rachelle who comes up with creative challenge prompts every fortnight.

My mom has always been my lady luck all my life, so I was grinning away I made this card for

Challenge #16
Happy Mother's day / Mother's day / Mother

Please use a "sentiment" with Happy Mother's day / Mother's day / Mother - using your native language for your creation.

A long time ago when I was still in school on a certain Mother's day, my brother and I scored the shops in Jayanagar 4th block (Bangalore) in search of a polka dot tea kettle because we had seen our mom admiring one a few months ago. Well.... we didn't have enough pocket money so could buy her one that time. We could never find a polka dot one again, so I made her one out of paper this year :)

The template for the card comes from this site which also has a tutorial on how to assemble the card. I resized the image and made it an easel card.

My sentiment reads 'Dear Mother' and the small ticket translates to 'My heart is filled with joy/bliss every time I think about you'. I cant think of a better word than joy, maybe if one of my readers also speaks Tamil (a south Indian language), you can help give a better English translation.

There are 4 individual teapots in my card glued together. Being someone who hates to measure and doesn't own a die cutting machine, it took me forever to get the four teapots to align! All papers are from an older release of Prima - aren't they gorgeous!

Here is a closer look at the easel base. And the surprise element - the top of the teapot come off and has a hidden tag for another message!

Have you made a Mother's Day card yet? Why not share it with us this month. Hop over to the Scrapping4fun blog, look at the inspiration from the design team and play along with us.

This month is going to be so exciting...... I have more wonderful news and projects to share with you next week.
